A 20 month old fawn show quality (spayed) female Pug. Jazzy is a joyful, unflappable, bright and brazen beauty. While I trained and handled her to her AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title, Jazzmine practices the majority of her outside manners while shopping with her 'Parents' at Charles Spiegel and visiting with Chloe, the resident pug at E.B. Pepper.(http://www.ebpepper.net)
"The Sunshine Boys"
Golden Retriever Emmitt and his younger brother Madison are a constant party waiting to happen! Throw them a tennis ball, life is heaven. Put a treat in a Kong and you're a goddess. Let Maddie lick your ear and you may never get it back! These boys are wonderful, joyful souls hoping to spread their overflowing happiness and love to everyone they meet!
"Maggie"
Is a lovely AKC Bulldog Bitch who's father took the group at Westminster 2 years ago. Maggie is very fit and athletic and loves to play with other dogs. She is a soft dominant bitch with good leash manners and obedience training. I enjoy working with and caring for her very much.
DUKE & BRUTUS
Brutus is is the older Cocker cross with the graying muzzle and Duke is the all black Full Cocker Spaniel Puppy. I have worked on little Duke's obedience and he is a bright little spitfire! He has a very biddable and anticipatory working attitude. With a little drillwork a week or so leading up to the testing, Duke is easily ready to pass his CGC! (AKC Canine Good Citizenship Test). He would also make an excellent agility or rally sport candidate! Look out, Splash & Dash!
"TANSY"
CH. Apprentice Jumpin for Joy certainly lives up to her name! She is a breathtaking 2 1/2 year old Bull Terrier Bitch. Tansy is a home bred owner handled AKC champion. She will be working on aquiring her BTCA versatility award by aquiring AKC titles on BOTH sides of her name. Earning a title in an obedience performance event results in a title at the end of a dog's name. Conformation titles result in championship designations preceeding the name. Tansy has already earned her conformation Championship.
"BEA" is the tiniest dog I've ever personally met or worked with! She is a sweet, lively, one full year old, miniaturized Yorkshire Terrier bitch. Bea comes to her new parents who live in a rather country setting, following her first year in an apartment building within a metropolan city set-up where she was asked to use 'potty pads' rather than expect to depend upon the outdoors to relieve herself. What a dramatic change for such a little girl! Each blade of grass presented a size and olfactory challenge for little Bea during her first day or so, but she recovered quickly from the surprises around her and she trusted the positive reinforcement of her femily leaders as they pointed out safe things, fun things, good potty places and positive play spots. With only a few days of diligent work, Bea is responding very well to her new home and is on a steady track to a well adjusted placement with nominal rehabilitatiion, in a new home! Yay Bea!
BASHO
Basho is a wonderful shephard husky neutered male of @ 13 years at the time of this photo in 2009. Basho can be loving and mellow, but he can turn a walk into a high energy, obstacle course endurance adventure! He is a lovely, mature, loving creature.
"MOXIE"
Moxie is a sweet, spunky spayed West Highland White Terrier bitch of about 7 months at the time these photos where taken. Moxie is all terrier, but also very pleasing and well behaved.
"Tugger"
A 3 year old neutered male boxer. Beautifully marked and tremendously handsome, Only Tugger's gentlemanly, joyful personality and steady, trustworthy temperament outshine his good looks. Not formally obedience trained, Tugger is a workmanlike, athletic companion dog. He likes to 'carry' stout, heavy sticks and logs long distances and will hunt and 'tree' squirrels diligently. He seems to find direction and encouragement from his handler on walks very interesting and stimulating and he often walks along keeping a brisk pace while looking up at me with those big, beautiful, soulful eyes, eagerly anticipating my next communication. What a great dog!
"EMMA BEAN" A spayed female 2 year old Bernese Mountain Dog. Though she has no formal obedience training, Emma is as sweet as sugar and as kind and as intuitive as "Nana" from "Peter Pan". Still very much a mental puppy being only a 20 month old Berner, Emma is still suceptable to fits of exhuberant 'puppy crazies' though she must weigh at least 85 pounds! "The Beaner" is a lovely and majestic young mountain lass just coming into her own!
HIGGINS
As of August of 2007, Higgins is a 7.5 month blue roan English Cocker Spaniel puppy. He is a gorgeous little fellow I have worked with since he was 9 weeks and with whom I am entirely smitten! Bright and spirited Higgins has full grasp of all of his basic obedience commands and is growing up into a lovely household companion with his parents and 3 young children. Housebroken but not fully housetrained, Higgins is at that point in his puppyhood where he must be crated or sequestered to a "puppyproofed" area when he isn't being supervised by his humans. He may well be trusted to behave and be at full liberty in his home by this time next year! This is a wonderful rare breed of dog I'm thrilled to be gaining valuable experience with! I have also fallen just a bit in love with this little boy!
"ANGEL" An 11 year old spayed female Shephard, Husky, Labrador rescue. Well obedience trained, with excellent leash and household manners and a pronounced guarding instinct. A lovely companion dog.
"ABBEY" A 13 year old spayed female shephard husky cross. Abbey is kind tempered and very easy going, but also hard of hearing and requires some special care.
"KATIE" A Double Miniature Golden Doodle spayed female. Katie is a bouncy, vivacious ever intense huntress on the prowl for squirrels, chipmunks and bunnies. Katie is difficult to photograph because she never stops moving!
"GUS" A large, strong, attractive obedience trained neutered male shephard mix rescue with a great sense of humor, a love of long walks and a great passion for dissection of soft, fluffy toys. Always up for a good laugh or a play bow, Gus is always a pleasure to work with during a dog walk, pet sit or obedience brush-up session.
Punkin and her puppies "at the milk bar"
Momma nursing Great White, Blue Boy, Smooth Black & Plush Black. All 4 pups found homes at 7-8 weeks!
Punkin and Honeydew
They are shelter dogs and came home with their new "forever mommy" together. Little did anyone know that Punkin was pregnant!
"Navy Blue"
Is a totally show quality 8 year old neutered male Silky Terrier. Navy showed extensively in his young prime, but was repeatedly "wicketed" (measured at the shoulder) by AKC judges and disqualified for being too large for the AKC standard for the Silky Terrier. Navy is, not withstanding being perhaps 2 inches too tall and a bit burley, a perfect example of the proper Silky in every respect. His coat condition, athleticism, movement, ability and willingness to 'go to ground', his level of terrier scrappiness and mental and physical soundness and stability are all superb. I consider it an honor to have Navy among my clients.
"MAX & ISA" A neutered british blue shorthair and "ISA" a spayed siamese cat. MAX is in the middle, the blue boy with personality that 'runneth over' and ISA on right, the increasingly LESS reserved siamese female.
"AVATAR"
An apricot neutered male Chinese Crested. Avatar is a soft of temperament huggy-kissy boy, who really thrives on and actively seeks out healthy amounts of petting, hugs, praise and positive reinforcement especially of the edible variety. Avvie will happily pass through nervana briefly given a flossie, tasty trotter or greenie to chew on!
"OLIVER"
Is a Male Powder Puff Chinese Crested Puppy of 5 months, at the time these photos were taken. He and Avatar are 1/2 brothers (and housemates) having the same mother, but different sires. Of interest, Powderpuff and Hairless varieties of Chinese Cresteds are born within the same litters, with hairlessness being a recessive trait, just like scottish folds in felines. Oliver is friendly, sweet and gregarious like his brother, but much gutsier and much more fearless! While Avatar seems to take his physical safety into consideration before undertaking an adventure, Oliver just GOES FOR IT! Much more physically agile and confident in his skin than his mellow, zenlike brother, Oliver adds a new dimension to my understanding of the essence of the Chinese Crested.!
Ripley Sage (B&W) and Sir Windsor
Ripley, a spayed female, and Sir Windsor, a neutered male red tabby are both well up in years now. They are friendly, mellow felines whom I have known for a very long time. Ripley was a shy young girl who becomes increasingly outgoing, vocal and assertive about achieving her desires as she ages, which I find intriuging and endearing. Sir Windsor on the other hand was a bold, magnificent and brazen young fellow who has mellowed and quieted a bit as he grew older. They are both delightful and very affectionate; even at medication time!
"ELMO"
At the time that these photos were taken in 2007, Elmo was a well-traveled 9 month old Malti-poo who already had earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen Title, worked as a Certified Therapy dog and was beginning the intermediate phases of obedience work. As a photographer and graphics professional, Elmo's mother often calls upon him to don costumes and participate in photo shoots for high profile corporate clients throughout the nation. Perhaps someday Elmo will be famous!
"Farley D.'s The Bodhisoffa, CGC"
An 18 month old show quality, spayed female Standard Poodle. Bodhi is a magnificent example of a female standard poodle. Her conformation, movement and temperament are equally outstanding. She is bright, effervescent and highly social, while maintaining a blissful independence and ability to entertain herself. She is a lovely household companion; entirely non destructive, mannerly and fun loving. Bodhi is particularly attached to her rubber lotus blossom toy and can play 'lotus blossom recall' (fetch) relentlessly. I'm really not certain for how long she'd be willing to play, because I've always ended the game before she was ready!
Digit
Xena & Digit
Zena, Digit & Schultz
"Xena, Didgit and Schultz"
Xena and Didgit are lovely female Cairn Terriers. Schultz is their younger 1/2 Mini Schnauzer brother. These 3 terriers get along beautifully and have the sweetest dispositions imaginable! They love treeing squirrels, both real and imaginary, leash walks, car rides, snuggling, affection, petting, any and all play I offer and FOOD! They are a joyful, enthusiastic PLEASURE to care for!
"CARL"
Carl is a handsome, strapping young adult neutered male Rottweiler very much just entering his prime. He is smart, cheeky and full of mischief and working energy. Carl's temperament is trustworthy and stellar, with an appreciable sense of humor. He is also a fine example of a Rottweiler. He is nicely put together and is sporting a lovely headpiece. I adore him and look forward to our sessions together!
"Maggie"
Maggie is a sweet, bright and beautiful spayed matron Border Collie. Her greatest attribute has got to be her long-suffering tolerance of her brother CARL who harrasses her unrelentingly, hoping for rough play unbefitting a lady of Maggie's breed or age. Not to say that Maggie is a delicate flower in the least! She can out- run, out-retrieve and out-tug-o-war her Rottweiler brother Carl, with the fiercest sounding growls, snarls and rabbit shakes of a large toy I've seen and heard during play in some time! Maggie has lovely manners and it is a pleasure caring for her!
"Angel"
Angel is a rescued 2 -3 year old spayed female buckskin and white Chihuahua. She is a lovelt little girl who has come a long way since arriving at her 'forever home' over 2 years ago. Angel was afraid of people walking, touching her, grroming, medicating or tending to her health or well being in any way. She was terrified of household appliances, loud noises, sudden or deliberate movements and just about anything else except very good food and her new Daddy. Together, they forged a bond of trust and rebuilt this little girl's mental stability utilizing plenty of firm, safe consistency and positive reinforcement combined with plenty of opportunities for safe socialization always propped up with ample positive reinforcement of multiple forms....bait, and verbal, and physical praise and comfort from the one person with whom Angel had bonded....her new 'forever Daddy'. Not a situation that every person - even one with the best intentions- can necessarily be fortunate enough to be able to follow through with....Daddy was able to take Angel to work with him during her critical (and LENGTHY) habituation period. But how very fortunate for them both! Angel is a lovely, sensitive bitch with a complex, affectionate personality. I always look forward to seeing her!
"BODE"
Is a very bright neutered male cocker spaniel, poodle cross. He is very handsome with tons of personality and equal amounts of personal opinion! Bode has preferences about which side of the street he is walking on, sometimes from moment to moment, and whether he'd like to take a walk at all, depending upon which of his pack members are home when I arrive to give him his afternoon walk. If his Mommy or Daddy are home, Bode would rather undergo surgery without anesthesia than leave the house! He will lock his little legs and dare me to drag him down the street! Every corner becomes an opportunity to trick me into turning for home!
However, on other days, when there is no special incentive to be at home, little Bode can cover a mile of ground effortlessly and is a pleasure of a companion dog. His vocabulary is huge and his grasp of subtle human/canine nuances of communication is excellent when he feels inclined to 'tune in'. Bode is another very special client with brains that double the size of his little body!
